"On November 14, 2011, the 59th day of peaceful occupation by Occupy Wall Street, New York City, everyone was forcefully evicted and a library of a thousand books was violently demolished and destroyed by local police. One book was left behind, A Brave New World/Revisited by Aldous Huxley, 1958, in which he expounds in essay form on the potential demise of democracy."
This quote expands on a very important issue, the threat of our Democracy under the Trump Administration. We live in a time where Fake News and Alternative Facts seemingly are acceptable to some people who support this president. While in truth he lives in his own world built upon lies and false promises with followers who follow him blindly. Putting our Democracy at stake.
Just like the Occupy Los Angeles we need to stand up against our "inhumane society, greed, inequality, and ethics" -pg.2 more so now than ever if we are to hold our ground and keep checks and balanances from the hands of radical president. This article reminds m that we must band together as a community and members of the united states to defend our brothers and sisters in a time where freedom of speech, women's rights, lgbtq+ rights, dignity of people with disabilities, and much much more are at stake of being taken away. We need to occupy Washington D.C. from around our nation.
