Week 4

I feel that empathy plays a big role in my art. You should know where the other person comes from and not judge. I like to be open-minded but also have my reasons why I feel a certain way. As an actor I bring empathy into all my characters because it is a story to be told and this is someone who isn't me. This has taught me a lot about myself and where I come from. How to connect into a deeper level with myself and into a character.

For my final project, it is a continuous workshop between me and Chris Wentworth about It's working title is called "The Fight." The idea is simple. The project would stage a fake argument between two people in the public eye. Parks, shopping malls, plazas and restaurants. There are the two actors, a script for them to memorize and work from, and you! The audience!
Our experiment is to see how narrative is created in our everyday life. How we yearn for stories on our most typical of days and the process of creating our own "inner narratives" throughout existence.

We have all seen people fighting in public. It's uncomfortable! But we are also unable to turn away. We are tuned in, so to speak. So what happens in our mind while we are watching? Do we favor one side or the other? Pity them? Cheer them on? How do we impose ourselves as spectators on their action? On their "play?"
