ACE - Week 4

Dorit Cypis’s “A Brave New World,” I think, offers one great thing in regard to woking with diverse communities and collaborators. That is to find a way to make them work toward achieving the same goal. Specifically in regard Cypis states that” The overwhelming challenge for Occupy is to build that capacity for all its participants to learn democratic social engagement skills toward consensus, to build skills of bias awareness, empathic listening, negotiation, non violence and conflict transformation…” Having a community of people from drastically different backgrounds working toward the same goal and getting all of those people to agree on everything is damn near impossible, but getting them to all work towards the same goal in their different ways, and respecting others is great tool to have. That is something that Occupy did very well, even through all of the bad, they all stayed to have their frustrated voices heard.
