Questions brought up about the reading:
Questions that were brought up about the reading as I read the article were few and far in some cases. Where were the giant boulders transported about the city and did their locations have any significance? What ways has "Culture In Action" made lasting effects on the communities that witnessed their projects? Why was the parade the most effective effort to make a statement in the Latino and African American neighborhood? Who was Hafthor Yngvason besides being a critic? How did Macdonalds's community activism help mend social issues with the government.
Take Away's from the reading:
Throughout this reading I learned how important a group of artist can raise awareness about social issues surrounding politics. Art pieces set up around various locations like rocks in a city can make a statement in the normal architecture that people see there.Artists creating pieces in a museum in abstract ways like pots to represent Native Americans at sculpture chicago sheds a light. It is very important to have community engagement to make changes in the way people think. Removing the distance from the artist to the audience makes art more intimate. All these things stuck out to me as I consider these artists to guide and pave pathways for artists to come.
I am moved by your statement:
