"Aesthetic Evangelists"

After reading the text "Aesthetic Evangelists:Conversion and Empowerment in Contemporary Community Art" ,  certain ethical considerations that community engaged artists should take precaution with.....

Artists that choose to collaborate with specific communities should first off resist the art world examining and deeming this kind of work as "low art". The work should not be judged by the same standard as white upper middle class art. The process is heavily weighted more on the process or the collaborative effort more than the finished product itself.    "Public Art " versus "New Public Art"/"New Community Art"

Have a certain understanding about "Moral Economy" and how that is a term that exist because of capitalism. Understand the shift of funding from institutions influence this new wave of "New Public Art/ New Community Art".Funders are now concerned with Social issues ( can be a marketing tactic/result of the capitalistic society).  This "moral economy" can extend to "political representation" of Art and its community because the whole  Arts and Community engagement was made possible by those funders who are now concerned with social issues.

Be aware that these experiences will make you more "woke"or mindful. The artist personal biases or presumptions whether it was subconscious or not will be"challenged and expanded." Be equipped to understand how others and even people from the community may look at you as a "social magician" and that you have a higher moral status. In fact those ideas are troubling and unethical.  Know that the community always had this moral standard or sense of community before the artist creative presence entered the collaboration. The artist job is to only serve as a type of "catalyst" that revitalizes the community by expanding their awareness/mindfulness and engagement of critical self analysis. The Artist just helps the community and individuals see their self agency clearly, lets them know that they can "take the wheel." "Priori" Community

It would be a good idea for the Artist to check themselves before entering their environment. The artist must have "Moral transference" or have similar past experiences so they can gain the authority to speak on behalf of that community. It is important to question the artist professional, political ,creative, moral , economic status, see that they are politically coherent before entering the community.

-Captalism , Politics , Personal agendas ,  Process over product ,  institutions

-Captalism : Taking advantage of the disadvantage
"Thus politicians and philosophers have for at least the past century and a half been obsessed with mapping the mental and emotional landscape of the poor with the goal of regulating it to meet their needs."

Insitutions - Conservatives rather let Private institutions slap a bandage on the problem rather than going to the very root of the problem.  Conservative view of artists being "deadbeat with no real job"
